ABOUT THE CENTRE

Philosophy and Role

Our philosophy is one of empowerment of parents. We strive to help parents improve their confidence in the parenting role, in the belief that children will then prosper and be content. Our belief is that confidence in the parenting role will nurture and strengthen the relationship with the child or children.

Our role:

To provide client focused parenting services within a private inpatient facility. Services of the Day Procedure Centre involve the multi-disciplinary care of children from birth to five years of age. Treatment is provided for early childhood conditions relating to developmental, behavioural, feeding or sleeping disorders.

Accreditation - Benchmark Certification

We are committed to a high level of quality care and our certification complies with the standard ISO9001:2000. The Centre is certified through Benchmark. This certification distinguishes the Centre as a leader in our area of expertise. Overall, certification is proof of our standard of care as only the institutions who meet Benchmark's exacting requirements receive certification.

Additionally, the Centre is supervised by a Medical Advisory Committee, consisting of Doctors and Specialist Child and Family Health Nurses. This committee provides professional supervision and review functions to ensure that client care is maintained at the highest standard.

Help in a Day

There are few jobs more important in life than parenting. Many new parents quickly discover that the reality of parenting is often different to their dreams and expectations. Many feel ill prepared for the role and at times start to doubt their ability to cope. Some will experience a sense of overwhelming exhaustion and become despondent and will feel like a failure. Others feel that they shouldn't ask for help and should battle on, managing the best they can.

The Hills Parenting Centre is licensed by the NSW Department of Health as an inpatient Day Procedure Centre, in the class of "Family Care". Parents are admitted for the day with their infant, baby or toddler and receive practical advice, support and guidance on the issues concerning them regarding their child.

Our Day Stay program provides intensive one on one care to enable parents to receive the help they need. We recognise that all families are different and our range of services and programs have been developed to deliver flexible, effective and practical help. We encourage partners to be included on the day, or for clients to bring their mother or other support person on the day if they wish.

The Centre is the first of its type to be established in NSW. Since our opening in 2000, we have helped thousands of families across NSW and some families have even traveled from interstate to take advantage of our services.
